Congratulations go out to Rick Montgomery! Rick was our sole contestant for March’s Bring’n’Brag contest, on the topic of “Motive Power - Steam” at our meeting in Morgantown last month.
1st place: B&O #5213, by Rick Montgomery
1st Place went to Rick Montgomery for the second month in a row, for his entry of a Bachmann HO scale model of the USRA 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive, with Bobby’s added smoke effect. Being the sole entry does not detract from the quality of his work, as you can see from the weathering he did on this locomotive.

He weathered an HO scale Bachmann USRA 4-6-2 Light Pacific #5213. Rick used Monroe Models weathering powders. The colors include soot black, dark rust, and ash gray. Other materials Rick used for weathering were a Woodland Scenic tie paint marker and actual lump coal in the tender. Bobby teased cotton to simulate the smoke effect. Rick’s entry earned three points.
