Bring & Brag August 2024 Entries and Winners

The Category for the August meeting at the picnic was Vehicles. We had 1 entry for judging. The winner is as follows:

1st place went to Steve Ross for his entry of a nicely done comparison of four vehicles, two pickup trucks and two passenger cars, with one “stock” as acquired/purchased vehicle and one custom painted and detailed for Steve’s purpose (loads for his autoracks). Once he shifted away from Autorack cars, he decided to paint and detail them for use as background vehicles on his layout. He used rattle can paints, added a few details (such as the tonneau cover on the 1979 F150). Of course his entry won first place. You can see some of the differences in the photos: stock as-acquired is on the left, painted and detailed on the right.

Steve Ross wowed us with this blast from the past: a “Keystone Flyer” passenger train that he brought to the picnic. As he recalls it, this was “put together and painted by a gentleman at the Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum [of Gibsonia] and given to Division Two as a gift … in thanks for the Division helping the club get started way back in the day.” It is pulled by the ever popular EMD F7 painted (appropriately) in Pittsburgh livery. Presumably the road number is also the year in which it was presented? This set has been in Steve's care since he was Assistant Superintendent, when it wound with him after having spent some more time at the WPMRRM. Superintendent Dennis Coglianese is now the custodian of the trainset and the documentation.
